The Illinois Leasing Agent License is a limited scope license for persons who wish to engage only in the leasing of residential properties. The leasing agent must be employed by a licensed property management firm and work under the supervision of a managing broker.
The Illinois Real Estate License Act requires that an applicant for a leasing agent license must:

Be at least 18 years of age

Hold a secondary school diploma or GED

Be employed by a sponsoring broker or property management firm

Successfully complete a licensed 15 credit-hour leasing agent pre-license course

Pass a state exam
