Leasing Agent License

 

The Illinois Leasing Agent License is a limited scope license for persons who wish to engage only in the leasing of residential properties.  The leasing agent must be employed by a licensed property management firm and work under the supervision of a managing broker. 

The Illinois Real Estate License Act requires that an applicant for a leasing agent license must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Hold a secondary school diploma or GED
  • Be employed by a sponsoring broker or property management firm
  • Successfully complete a licensed 15 credit-hour leasing agent pre-license course
  • Pass a state exam
