2011 - 2013 Continuing Education Requirements
Salesperson
Salesperson license renewal period of May 1, 2009 - April 30, 2011 has been extended to April 30, 2012.
The licensee must transition to broker (non-managing) by April 30, 2012. The transition may be accomplished by proficiency exam or 30 hour class. If the transition was by exam, the licensee will need 18 hours of continuing education earned between May 1, 2009 and April 30, 2012 at the time of renewal.
9 hours must be in Core areas and include Core A: Agency, License Law and Escrow and Core B: Legal Issues. 9 hours may include additional Core B: Legal issues or Elective courses. If the licensee transitioned by the 30 hour class option, continuing education requirements at renewal are waived.
Broker
Broker License renewal period is May 1, 2010 - April 30, 2012. A broker not wishing to manage an office must renew his broker license (non-managing) by April 30, 2012. The licensee will need 12 hours of continuing education earned between May 1, 2010 and April 30, 2012 at the time of renewal.
6 hours must be in Core areas and include Core A: Agency, License Law and Escrow and Core B: Legal Issues. 6 hours may include additional Core B: Legal issues or Elective courses.
Managing Broker
The licensee must transition to managing broker by April 30, 2012. The transition may be accomplished by proficiency exam or 45 hour class. The expiration date of the new managing broker license has been extended to April 30, 2013. If the transition was by exam, the licensee will need 30 hours of continuing education earned between May 1, 2009 and April 30, 2012 at the time of renewal.
9 hours must be in Core areas and include Core A: Agency, License Law and Escrow and Core B: Legal Issues. 9 hours may include additional Core B: Legal issues or Elective courses. In addition, the managing broker will need an additional 12 hours of broker management continuing education. If the licensee transitioned by the 45 hour class option, the 12 hour broker management continuing education requirements at renewal are waived.
Practicing Illinois Attorneys are exempt from the continuing education requirements.
